Race Day Readiness

2016 Shirt and Cuff

It can be unnerving getting ready for a race no matter the distance, especially if this is your first. Here are a few race day tips to keep you level headed and on your toes:

  • Friends – Invite your family and friends to join the race and run/walk together.
  • Dress Up – Create a unique beach party themed costume and enjoy your self during the race and at the post-race Summer Kickoff Party. Individual and group costumes are a great way to show off your love for Rustic Cuff and Joy for the Cause.
  • Shoes – Keep those feet happy with a quality pair of running shoes.
  • Race bib - You will wear the race number on the front of your body during the race. The race number for the 5K race also contains a timing chip for the electronic timing system. Don’t fold the number as you could damage the timing tag.
  • Watch the Clock – give yourself ample time to get to the start line. With over 2,500 people arriving at the same time there will be delays. Follow instructions from officers and volunteers directing traffic.
  • Have fun – Whether this is your first or 100th race this event will be fun for kids of all ages.

  • All parking will be to the west of the River West Festival area near 21st Street. Jackson Ave will be closed for the race. First go to Southwest Blvd then turn east on 21st Street. Volunteers will direct you to your parking area. There will be a separate area for handicapped accessible parking.
  • If you purchased the VIP Package show the volunteers your VIP parking pass and they will guide you to the VIP parking area inside the River West Festival Area.
  • Nearby streets will close early so plan your route ahead of time. Jackson Ave. will close at 5:00pm. The 23rd Street Bridge, Boulder Ave. and Main St. will close at 7:00.
  • Most people will arrive at the race about 45 minutes before the start. Give yourself ample time to park and get to the start line. Don’t let your first race be a sprint to the start line!

Our aid stations are manned by the best volunteers in the area. Most are runners themselves and like to give back to the community at the Rustic Cuff Run.

The Rustic Cuff Run wouldn't be possible without the help of great volunteers. Sign up for a shift at our VolunteerSignup website. Don't worry if you are new to the volunteer scene. You'll be working alongside and learning from the best of the best.

We have shifts available Friday afternoon and evening on May 12th. There are many opportunities for families to work together. Students can use this time as school or club volunteer hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make sure that I get a Rustic Cuff bracelet?
You must register by May 9th to get a limited-edition cuff. Cuffs are not available if you register after May 9th.
What is a Virtual Run?
A virtual run is one that you do on your own at any point and time because you cannot make it to the event. Please do not sign up for the Virtual run and then try to use your number to run on race day.
What is the age limit for the races?
There is no age limit to either the 5K or One Mile Fun Run. However, we ask that young children be supervised at all times as it will be dark and very crowded.
What is the course time limit?
The course will remain open till the last walker finishes. However if you cannot walk 3.1 miles in one hour and 15 minutes, we suggest you enter the one mile Fun Run instead.
Are strollers allowed in the races?
Strollers are only allowed in the Fun Run. We ask they start towards the back of the start group for safety of all runners.
What types of costumes are allowed?
Any costume that will allow you and the entrants around you to run safely is permitted. Many children attend this event so keep them PG or better.
Will There be Awards?

Can a friend or a family member run with me if they did not enter the race?
No. All participants on the course must be registered for that event.

Yes, for the 5K race. The 5K is an electronic chip-timed race. Chips will be on the back of your race number and must not be removed.
Where do I wear my race number?
Your race number must be visible on the front of your body. If you think you may shed a shirt or a jacket during the race, we recommend that you safety pin your number to the front of your shorts/sweats/tights/costume.
Will sports drink be available at the hydration stations?
Only water will be available on the course. There will be addiitonal water after the run. You will need to bring your own sports drink if needed.

What if I cannot make it to the race? Can I get a refund?
We are sorry but we do not give refunds. Those registered who are unable to participate may still pick up their runner packet at normal packet pick-up time at Pinot’s Pallet before the race. Unclaimed packets will be held at RunnersWorld Tulsa for two weeks after the event.
What happens if I leave my race number at home?
All participants in both races must have a race number. If you forget or lose your race number, you must go to the race registration tables to get a new number issued.
